The organization was found on 7thApril 1984, and the main office is located in Geneva Switzerland(Browneetal.,2012).The mission of WHO is to enhance the performance of health workers,and reinforce the system that they work. On the other hand, thevision of the organization is to ensure that everyone, everywhere canaccess the healthcare they need. Additionally, the institution hascertain value that improves its service delivery across the nations(Browneetal.,2012).For instance, its services are excellent, because the organization iscommitted to offering outstanding performance and demonstratingresults achieved. Similarly, some of its values include openness,partnership and accountability.
Thediscussion below analyses the strengths, weakness, opportunity andthreats of world health organization.
Worldhealth organization has numerous capabilities, and resources thatgive it competitive advantage over other health organizations.Therefore, some of the strengths include wide range of innovativeservices provided to the people(Wazir, Shaikh & Ahmed, 2013).Similarly, the organization has cost advantage over otherinstitutions. The organization is diverse hence, it is able tosource competent staffs all over the world that are specialized indifferent field. The WHO also enjoys good reputation than any otherorganization. Moreover, the firm has unique aspects that increase thereturns. Furthermore, the institution has a superior location and ithas customers in every country (Waziretal.,2013).
Weaknessrefers to areas that require improvements, and the managers look foralternatives to eliminate them. Alternatively, weakness can be as aresult of absence of specific strengths, and mostly it can be thereverse side of certain strength in an organization. Therefore, someof the weakness that face WHO are poor marketing strategies (Waziretal.,2013).Additionally, the reputation of the firm can be damaged when otherstaff gets involved in malpractices such as corruption. Anotherproblem that WHO faces is limited advancement in technology and poormanagement of workers problems. Finally, there are undifferentiatedservice lines that result into conflicts within the organization(Waziretal.,2013).
Inaddition to modern trends, there are external opportunities thatprevails, and WHO can exploit them and have accumulated advantageover other institutions. Some of the opportunities of the WorldHealth Organization include evacuation of the market by othercompetitors (Waziretal.,2013).Additionally, the institution can enjoy the benefit of availabilityof new technology and dynamic changes in the population. Similarly,there is absence of dominant competitors in the market. Moreover,there are numerous segments in health sectors that WHO canconcentrate on to improve the profits. Finally, the organization hasthe possibility of expanding to new markets (Waziretal.,2013).
Threatsare obstacles that stand in the way of success, and there is noorganization that is immune to threats. Alternatively, majority ofthe people tend to ignore, miss or minimize threats at great cost(Waziretal.,2013).Therefore, some of the threats of the WHO are stiff competition fromprivately owned health institutions that delivers efficient servicersto the customers. Additionally, there are changes in healthregulations in respective countries that can hinder the operations ofWHO. Moreover, the functions of the WHO can be affected by economicshifts especially during inflation (Waziretal.,2013).
