Policymakingby different Levels of Government

Stategovernments should reserve the power to make laws that affect andrelate to individual member States. Policymaking should be a task ofstate governments because above governmental institutions areresponsible for overseeing the welfare of citizens at State levels.Although policy making responsibilities are partially at the reserveof national governments, this analysis notes that laws relate to thelives, actions and conducts of individual states therefore the needto centralize power to State levels. Regardless, national governmentshould not entirely be left out in the legislation process. Theyshould be responsible for giving direction and guidance as it relatesto State laws. Although distanced from the broader context of lawmaking, national governments should constantly review, give guidanceand direction on legal guidance and procedures.

PublicPolicies on Climate Change

Matterspertaining to climate change are issues that traverse individualStates. The atmosphere is ubiquitous and goes on and on to differentstates, locations, and regions. The national government should beresponsible to design climate policies and legal guidelines. Itshould stipulate the desired levels of carbon emissions, effluentsand define the scope of industrial activities. The nationalgovernment is not biased as opposed to individual states which mayhave personal and reserved views. If laws relating to climate changeare designed by individual states, there will likely be a conflictbecause varying States have different activities, interests andinitiatives on climatic matters. There is need, therefore, of anoverall body that oversees, monitors and defines the parameters ofoperation by industrial, residential and commercial entities, and howtheir activities relate to the physical environment aquatic, atmospheric and terrestrial.

Republicand Climate Change – Will the adoption of Climate Change Issuesuffice?

TheRepublican Jim Inhofe held a snowball on the floor of the senatedemonstrating against the implications of climate change. DonaldTrump argued against the concept of global warming revealing the modewas initially advanced by the Chinese because they wanted to create anon-competitive manufacturing sector. Both republicans come againstenvironmental matters with arguments surrounding expenditure thatsuch initiatives pose to United States. As demonstrated by otherinfluential political players, global warming poses heavy financialimplications. The planet is recording very low temperatures, and theplanet in general is freezing. From a critical analysis, it isunlikely that Republicans will move towards acknowledging climatechange issues. To most opponents, issues and concerns surroundingclimate change have been emphasized and they account for asignificant amount of the economic and government expenditure. Thefact that issues of climate change have been addressed widely by thedemocrats and remain an initiative for above party it is unlikelythat climate change will be adopted as an over-ranking issue byRepublicans.

WhatI have learnt from the Assignment

Theassignment provides a platform to examine matters of social andpolitical interest. The federalism model of governance has addedlight and created insight on different levels of government State,Federal and National. Also to highlight the responsibilities taskedto each level. Part of the assignment is to bring to light theinitiatives and agenda shared by different political partiesdemocrats and republicans. The republics strongly oppose the issuesof climate change arguing the planet is cold and that scientists arewell stuck in the ice. Democrats on the other hand see the issue ascritically underpinning – and therefore the need to advanceinitiatives surrounding environment, climate, and the atmosphere atlarge. The assignment, therefore, provides the opportunity to examinematters of social and political nature.
