This week has been a pretty good one. We’re studying the World War I era in The Mystery of History, Volume 4. To enrich this study, we watched FlyBoys. What an awesome movie!! It’s the story of Americans who joined the French Foreign Legion to become pilots. At that time airplanes were still in their infancy and pilots had little training. There was a lot of action and a great story line.
One thing that War Horse brings to mind is my great-grandmother. She was a special part of my life, and her brother was lost in Europe during the Great War. I believe he fell victim to the mustard gas. Family history like that has a special place in homeschool. Stories like that can really bring history to life and makes students feel a part of it.
She still didn’t get to finish Fahrenheit 451, but will this week for sure. This has been a tough book for her to read, even though she does like sci-fi stuff.
Biology is one of her favorite subjects. I found a 3-D human body puzzle. I can’t wait to get further into biology so we can use this.
Personally, I’ve taken a 30 day green smoothie challenge at Simple Green Smoothie. This week is week 2. Some smoothies are more appealing than others, but I don’t have to drink the same one everyday. I usually drink it in the afternoon for a pick-me-up. Overall, I’ve enjoyed this challenge.
That’s about all we accomplished this week. More than the week before, and hopefully less than next week.
