Happy New Year, dear friends. I pray 2016 will bring you health, happiness and blessings galore. In my case, I pray this year will be better than last.
2015 was a rough year. Lots of heartache, lots of tear, lots of uncertainty. Through it all–God sustained us. Our hope in Him gave us peace and brought my husband and I closer.
Not everything that occurred was bad. We did have two new additions to the household–2 cats. Scout, a black cat with creepy yellow eyes joined us around February. Pouncer–a cuddly orange tabby came in August. My son found him abandoned behind a building. Sadie (the dog) has grown accustomed to them. She has a special way of telling them to go away, and they do.
With a new year dawning, I see nothing but promise. Although I understand there will be difficulties this year, I stand on the promises of God that His sustaining grace will again give us hope and peace.
Therefore, I can’t help but be excited about 2016. All the new adventures, changes and blessings that await on the horizon have me positively giddy with anticipation.
One of the major adventures I plan to take in 2016 is reinventing this blog. I’m going to gear my articles and writing toward homeschooling middle and high school. Since I have a 10th grader, this makes sense. I’m really comfortable with this change and look forward to sharing my thoughts and experiences with you.
I spent several hours creating an awesome blog calendar. There are several series planned I hope will bring you encouragement and inspiration.
The first is Back 2 Basics. These articles will run every other Monday throughout the year. I’ve utilized ‘blogging through the alphabet,’ with this series to give it cohesiveness. Topics include:
- Transcripts
- Electives
- Online Classes
- Notebooking
- Accountability
The second monthly series is Homeschooling in Adversity. These articles will appear once a month and address real-life topics like:
- Divorce
- Illness
- Depression
Another monthly series will be Beach Reads. This will give a suggested reading list for both teens and moms. I’ll include what I’m currently reading for the month. There will be fiction, non-fiction and classical choices. My reading will be all over the map this year.
For fun, I also plan to bring back YouTube Tuesdays occasionally. These videos will be for fun and enjoyment.
There are several other ideas on the drawing board, but I can’t reveal the details just now.
I hope this gives you encouragement to continue to visit this blog. Walk with me on this journey as we homeschool and do what’s best for our teens and families.
